Citizen's Police Academy

Thank you for your interest in the Citizens Police Academy sponsored by the Jackson Police Department.

Our Citizens Police Academy is a program intended to educate citizens about police work. Furthermore, it is an opportunity for our department to build upon our relationship with those we serve.

The Citizens Police Academy will consist of seven weeks of classes beginning September 11th, 2024 and ending October 30th, 2024 (there will be no class on October 11th). Classes will run from 6 pm to approximately 8:30 pm. We will be covering a variety of police related topics, including; K9 demonstration, use of force, firearms simulator, evidence processing, OWI investigations, etc. All participants will be able to do a ride along with an officer.

If you are interested in attending, please plan on attending all of the class sessions.

Applications will be accepted until August 26th, 2024. Please return completed applications to the police department via mail, email, or drop off in person. Those selected to participate will be notified by August 30th, 2024.
