Citizen's Police Academy

Thank you for your interest in the 2nd Annual Citizens Police Academy sponsored by the Jackson Police Department.

Our Citizens Police Academy is a program intended to educate citizens about police work. Furthermore, it is an opportunity for our department to build upon our relationship with those we serve.

The Citizens Police Academy will consist of seven weeks of classes beginning September 6th, 2023 and ending October 25, 2023 (there will be no class on October 11th). Classes will run from 6pm to approximately 8:30pm. We will be covering a variety of force, firearms simulator, evidence processing, OWI investigations, etc. All participants will be able to do a ride along with an officer.

If you are interested in attending, please plan on attending all of the class sessions.

Applications will be accepted until August 15th, 2023. Please return completed applications to the police department via mail, email or drop off in person. Those selected to participate will be notified by August 25th, 2023.
